Player-manager Kevin Nicholson will be looking for a reaction from his side after their 3-1 defeat to Tiverton Town on Tuesday.
Plymouth Argyle visit Plainmoor on a high. After securing automatic promotion last season, they have had a successful pre-season campaign so far beating Plymouth Parkway 3-1, Saltash 2-0, Tiverton Town 2-1, Buckland 5-1, and Weston Super Mare 4-0.
Player-manager, Kevin Nicholson is eager for his men to look to Plymouth as an example of what it takes to gain promotion.
“It has been an incredible year for Plymouth Argyle and I’m sure they’re looking to build on their promotion and show what they’re all about,” said Nicholson.
“This match will be a real test for the players, both physically and technically. Plymouth have a lot of gifted players and athletes. This is a chance to put ourselves up against the one of the best teams that League Two had to offer last season. To see how we stand up to that test is always exciting for players and managers alike.”
Ex-Gull Nathan Blissett may not play on Tuesday night due to the impending birth of his first child. Either way, Nathan’s progress while at Plainmoor is something that other players can be inspired by according to the Gaffer.
“I’d also like to welcome back Nathan Blissett to Plainmoor who we are very proud to have helped on his way to a team that earned promotion last season. He’s a great guy who has earned his chance through hard work, and buying into how we do things. He is an example to my current players on what can be achieved if they commit themselves completely.
“I know our relationship with the Plymouth fans is a good one, and I expect a good game and a decent atmosphere. This is the next stage in our development during pre-season and I look forward to seeing it.
Midfielder, Damon Lathrope should be fit enough to make the match day squad. Jamie Reid is very close to full fitness and should play a part in the match. Goalkeeper, Ryan Clarke has recovered from a slight injury to be a part of Kevin Nicholson’s plans.
Fans are encouraged to pay with cash at the turnstile and seats will not be allocated for the friendly. Fans can sit or stand where they want for the match. Fans needing to pay by card can purchase from the ticket office before kick-off.
