United take a break from National League action on Saturday when Buildbase FA Trophy action kicks off at Plainmoor.

“It’s important, all competitive games are important, and it’s a game I want to win,” said Torquay United head coach Gary Owers at his weekly press call.

“I want to win every game. It’s good for confidence, it’s good for momentum, we’ve been playing ok. I want to prove to people that the team is good enough to get results, whether it is a Cup game, or three points, or whatever. Well pick a team to try and win because if it’s a draw there’s a replay as well. We’re looking at potentially two games in the next three or four days.”

Josh Gowling is definitely out of Saturday’s game due to a knee problem. Yan Klukowski rejoins the squad after completing a loan spell at Kidderminster Harriers.

“One or two are a bit sore after the game [on Tuesday]. Josh Gowling’s still unavailable, and other than that I think we’ve got a clean bill of health so we’re quite good in terms of numbers.

“It’s sort of an ongoing situation [with Gowling] that’s being monitored. He’s had his scan, I think that came back clear. There might be something else going on in there but hopefully it will just settle down and we can get him back into the squad as quickly as possible.”

Maidstone have been a potent force in the Cup competitions this season, reaching the 2nd round of the FA Cup. Victories over Enfield and Cheltenham led them to play MK Dons and a 4-1 defeat at the Stadium MK.

United have played the Stones already this season. The visitors to Plainmoor won 1-0 thanks to a Joe Pigott free-kick.

Season ticket holders are reminded that their cards are not valid for Saturday’s match & that seats are not reserved unless they were bought in advance. Fans are encouraged to pay by cash at the turnstile but the ticket office will be open as usual for card payments.
