It was a busy weekend for United’s JPL sides, with all of the teams in action both home and away.

The U12s saw off Somerset opponents Weston-super-Mare at the Woodspring Stadium on Saturday, recording a 6-0 victory. Mikolaj Piasecki opened the scoring inside two minutes before Oscar Mills doubled the young Gulls advantage six minutes later. Piasecki bagged himself a brace in the 15th minute and later went on to score for his hattrick. Mason Bryant and Ethan Lopeman also got their names on the scoresheet.

Meanwhile the U13s battled hard to be denied a share of the points by two late penalties. The Young Gulls hosted Weston-super-Mare at Paignton Academy in a close game which saw the away side eventually run out 4-2 victors.

The U14s were back on the road on Saturday to begin their new league campaign at Paulton Rovers. United took the lead in the 18th minute, after Lucas Robinson reacted quickest to bundle home after Toby Hard’s effort from outside the box came back off the bar. Robinson doubled the Young Gulls advantage in the 30th minute, before the hosts reduced the deficit four minutes later. The game remained 2-1 to United until the final quarter when Hard headed home a Harvey Roche corner in the 66th minute. Robinson secured his hattrick in the 70th minute, before four minutes later Freddie Heath drilled home. The home side got a goal back in the 75th minute with the full time score seeing a comfortable 5-2 victory for United’s U14s.

Saturday also saw the beginning of a new campaign for the U15s who hosted North Somerset RTC Pinks at South Devon College. United opened the scoring in the 7th minute, after pressure from United’s Adam Khalaf saw a North Somerset defender’s panicked clearance find his own net. The Young Gulls doubled the advantage five minutes later after a stunning free kick from 25 yards out by Andrew Ellis found the top corner. The visitors managed to pull two goals back and the game entered the final quarter 2-2. United continued to go close, but it was two goals from North Somerset that secured them a 4-2 win.

The U16s hosted Saints Southwest Devon on Saturday, and despite Charlie Wood opening the scoring in the 8th minute, the visitors found an equaliser which saw the game enter the second half 1-1. However it was three second half goals that saw Saints Southwest Devon run out 4-1 winners.
