United face Bromley at Plainmoor on Saturday with the need for three points ever growing.

With 51 points to play for from 17 games, United need to put wins on the board to galvanize the Yellow Army into believing National League survival is possible.

United have been lifted by the signing of striker Elliott Romain who looks set to start the game. Josh Gowling and Yan Klukowski continue their battle to regain fitness after recovering from injuries. Jon-Paul Pittman is our of contention after suffering a hamstring strain in training. Ryan Higgins is absent from the Club on compassionate grounds.

“The mood on the training ground has been alright; I don’t sense any negativity,” said TUFC head coach, Gary Owers at his weekly press call.

“They’ve trained as hard as they could have trained this week. The new boys that have come in aren’t carrying that burden that maybe one or two of the other players that have been through it are, to some degree. There are lots of things going on and we are trying to develop a spirit or maintain a spirit to put up a good fight.

“You have to be aware of where you are and what you need to do. There’s no hiding place, it’s a treacherous position and we have to pull out all of the stops to try and get out of it. We can dig in and get through the tough run of games that are coming up. We have to play most of team that are around ourselves and they might be the critical games come the end of the season.”

Bromley are threatening to put a promotion bid together this season. They currently sit in 9th place in the National League but are only a point away from the play-off places. They will present a significant challenge according to the Gaffer.

“Tough, physical game,” said Owers with emphasis on the word “tough”. “I had someone watch them up in the north east last week against Blyth Spartans and they had a good victory. It is relentless, the league’s relentless and I don’t anticipate that we’ll have any easy games, especially in our position in between now and the end of the season. All I’m trying to emphasize to the players is that we’re trying to find a way of winning one football match, at the moment.

“We’re all desperate to have a good weekend. we have to pull out a result quickly. The games will be running out soon but we’re not in an impossible situation.”
