Robbie Herrera was largely pleased with his side’s performance, but deeply disappointed with the final result as United went 3-2 down to Guiseley at Nethermoor Park.

One word summed up Herrera’s mood after the game.

“Devastated,” said Herrera. “I thought we totally dominated the game barring the first 15 minutes when it was a little bit helter-skelter for us. We were sixes and sevens but from the 15th minute on we dominated. We had enough chances to win two games to be honest. To concede the goals that we conceded, especially like in the last five minutes like we did is criminal. It has been the story of the season so far.”

“My only criticism to the lads is that at points it looked like we wanted to walk the ball in. You can’t go away from home and score two goals and concede three goals like we have. It is something that we need to brush up on”

United scored two goals in two minutes in the first half. United were leading 2-1 at the break, and Herrera’s team talk was to highlight what United were doing well to that point.

“It was – listen, this is how we’re going to win the game. We caused them problems down the sides. We were asking our back four to be wary with the midfield boys of the long through, the flick-on and runners. I thought we dealt with it for the majority really well. In terms of moving the ball and getting it out wide – great, really, really good. That’s a positive there –  we look more threatening going forward. If you defend you’re going to concede goals. The game is won and lost in both boxes, and today we’ve lost it in our box.”
