TORQUAY United is delighted to be part of the South-West Counties Youth League for the 2018-19 following the successful completion of our application.

It is tremendous news for the Football Development Programme at Plainmoor and ensures our new Under-18 team, in partnership with Torquay Academy, will be competing in a league dedicated to the development of young footballers.

“We are very grateful to the committee and clubs of the South-West Counties Youth League for accepting our application,” said United General Manager Geoff Harrop.

“After the first year of restarting a youth system from scratch, we are moving into the next phase of building a Football Development Programme that provides a clear pathway from our Community Trust to Development Centres and teams from Under-8 to Under-18, and hopefully then the first-team.

“It has been well documented that our previous plans involved possible participation in the Peninsula League but, after much consideration, we felt the Under-18s would gain more benefit from competing in a youth league and being invited to join the first-team for occasional training sessions and development fixtures.”

The South-West Counties Youth League comprises clubs from across the region and also runs a cup competition. Please watch this space for the fixture lists and some exciting pre-season friendly news for all age groups in our Football Development Programme.
