Torquay United’s Under-16 side overcame Kidderminster Harriers on Saturday, following an absorbing JPL National League Champions Final at Meadow Park, Gloucester.

Despite Kidderminster edging in front twice, two replies from Jaydon Gilbert levelled things up, and with the sides unable to be separated thereafter, a penalty shoot-out was eventually required to determine the winners.

Spot kicks may not have gone United’s way last weekend, however this time it was Stuart Monk’s young Gulls who emerged victorious 4-3 on penalties.

Head of Youth Chris Todd was understandably very proud at full-time, after what has been a very testing twelve months for the Club’s youth sides.

“It was a fantastic achievement by Stuart Monk and the players. It’s been difficult times this season, and they’ve worked really, really hard.

“It’s been very hit and miss with Covid and everything, but they’re a great young group, they’ve got a lot of talent but they dug in hard when times were difficult, they really did.”

Congratulations lads, from everybody at Plainmoor!
