United looking to make it six of the best at home this weekend
Torquay United can break a record that has stood for 99 years with a home win over Dagenham & Redbridge on the historic double-header weekend at Plainmoor.
The victory over Ebbsfleet in our previous home outing in the National League South made it five straight wins to open the league campaign at Plainmoor, the first time that feat had been achieved in 43 years, but the next step takes us back to an iconic season in United history.
When we won the Southern League title in 1926/27, we started the season with seven straight home wins in that division and ended that campaign with elevation into the Football League.
In both the 1923/24 and 1963/64 seasons, we drew the first home league game and won the next eleven, seriously impressive stuff, but a sixth victory over Dagenham & Redbridge on Saturday could top the lot.
The stage is set for a magical weekend of football, as the men in Yellow will be swiftly followed by TUFC Women looking to extend their own unbeaten start when they take on Pucklechurch on Sunday, the first competitive double-header over one weekend at Plainmoor.
Block B of Bristow’s Bench is now open to the Yellow Army, the Premier League boys have their feet up on the sofa, so there is no better time to sample the special atmosphere of a Plainmoor weekend and hopefully witness some history at the same time!
