Carmen Morison Signs for title-chasers
With Torquay United’s title-chasing women heading for Gloucester to contest a League Cup semi-final this weekend (29/03/26 2pm KO), manager Ryan Perks has ensured that his side are well-equipped to battle it out on all fronts, as his side announced the signing of former Marine Academy Plymouth forward Carmen Morison (subject to league approval).
Morison enjoyed a standout 2023/24 season with MAP, where she netted 18 goals in 22 appearances, finishing as the club’s top scorer. Her contributions were instrumental in securing the Shield Services Group South West Regional Women’s Football League title, where she added a further 15 goals in 23 matches during a successful league-winning campaign.
With Torquay’s sights firmly focused on promotion to the FA Women’s National League next term, proven goalscorer Morison also boasts valuable experience at that higher level, making nine appearances and scoring twice in the Women’s National League Division One South West, prior to stepping away to focus on her university studies and football development.

Regarding the signing, Perks said:
“Carmen is an excellent attacking player and we are delighted to have strengthened in an area we feel we are a little short. She will provide an added threat to an already excellent group.”
Carmen’s arrival follows hot on the heels of United’s 1-1 draw with title rivals Forest Green Rovers on Sunday, where a superb late leveller from Tee Kaptein kept the championship race in The Gulls’ hands.
Ryan was in no doubt how important that point could prove to be, come the final shake-up.
“It was a vital point in a hard fought contest.
“While we started a little nervously, I felt we grew into the game and largely dominated proceedings. We created enough chances to win and limited Forest Green to very little, aside from the goal they scored.
“At half-time we spoke about character and resilience, and the players showed both in abundance during the second half.
“The point means the title race remains in our hands, but we must stay focused with a number of tough fixtures still to come.”

This weekend however, the girls take a break from league action as they face a League Cup semi-final at Gloucester, as they take on a City side that pushed them all the way in the league encounter a few weeks ago, before a Connie Pengelly hat-trick saw United run-out 3-2 victors.
Perks sees the Cup as another opportunity not to be missed.
“It’s another great chance to reach a final, which would be a fantastic achievement for the group.
“We know it will be another difficult challenge, our recent league meeting showed that, but with the added quality of Amii and Carmen coming into the squad, it’s one we’re really looking forward to.”7
