Played in a strong wind, conditions were far from easy for both teams, with our Young Gulls showing admirable resilience and composure from the outset as they facing the challenge of playing against the conditions in the first 45 minutes.

Gower struck first with a moment of real quality though, firing an outrageous effort into the top corner to take the lead.

It was all -square at the break, but it was the lads from South Devon that prevailed following the restart.

Torquay didn’t have it all their own way, with Gower again starting brightly he second half brightly, as Josh Bond produced an excellent save to keep the scores level, before Edwards cleared another effort off the line.

That proved to be a turning point.

With Toby Hard, Fin Herbert, and Albie Baker all looking dangerous in attack, their persistence eventually paid off when Herbert beat his man before delivering a pinpoint cross which Shaw me perfectly, glancing a header into the far corner to give the Young Gulls the advantage.

Chances continued to come for both sides.

Shaw went close again after another outstanding run, before the Gower glovesman denied him once more, whilst at the other end, the SDC backline stood firm in the blistering conditions with everything thrown at them.

Victory was finally sealed when Hard drove a clinical finish into the far bottom corner to make it 3-1, sparking wild celebrations from players and supporters alike.

A fantastic team performance, full of character, quality, and determination. Torquay United Academy @ South Devon College now look ahead with excitement as they march into the National Cup Final.
