Plainmoor to host charity match for forces charity
Plainmoor will be playing host to a charity football match on Wednesday 26 August, as a Torquay United All-Stars side take on a team from the Rapid Repair Rally, with every penny raised on the day going to forces motorsport charity, Mission Motorsport.
The Allstars line-up will brings back some familiar faces, such as Kevin Hill, Matt Hockley, Wayne Thomas, Les Afful, Troy Douglin and Mark Forrester..
The fixture is the centrepiece of the Rapid Repair Rally, a two-day charity drive called “Run to the Riviera,” setting off from Bath on 25th August and making several stops before returning for a gala dinner.
Last year’s rally raised over £5,000 for charity, with organisers hoping to beat that total this year.
This year’s chosen charity, Mission Motorsport, supports servicemen and women affected by military operations, using motorsport as a route back into work and back into life.
Alongside the match, an online charity auction will run throughout the event, with prizes including signed shirts and hospitality packages, with proceeds going straight to Mission Motorsport.
The rally’s fleet of decorated cars will arrive at the ground from around 4pm ahead of kick-off, with photo opportunities, food and entertainment for supporters arriving early.
Gates will be open at 4pm, with the match kicking off at 6pm.
Entry will be FREE, with optional donations going to Mission Motorsport.
