Ahead of Sunday’s opening home match of the season, Torquay United’s women have announced the signing of former Exeter City midfielder Beth Ireland.
Beth arrives at Plainmoor after a hugely impressive spell at Devon rivals City, where she won promotion from the fourth tier – United’s new home for 2026/27 – two years ago.
Having also represented Plymouth Argyle, Ireland brings with her a wealth of experience of FA Women’s National League football, and having spent a large proportion of her career in the division above, boss Ryan Perks is relishing watching her help The Gulls scale even greater heights this term.

“I’m delighted that Beth has agreed to join us,” said Perks.
“She’s a player I know well from our time together at Plymouth, and having gained plenty of experience of both this division and the level above, she’ll offer us something extra in midfield this season.
“She goes straight into the squad against Ascot on Sunday, and I can’t wait to see her in action.”
