United Women Head To Buckland For Bridgwater Test

United Women have a rare midweek fixture this coming Tuesday when they kick off their FAWNL League Cup campaign with a home fixture against Bridgwater United at Buckland Athletic’s VX3 Stadium (25/08/26 7.45pm KO).

United come into the game after Sunday’s impressive 6-0 hammering of Ascot United at Plainmoor, as The Gulls made a winning start to their home FA Women’s National League fixtures.

Manager Ryan Perks had the luxury of bringing off key members of the squad with United well in control and just a quarter of an hour remaining.

Perks will also have been pleased by the fact that the goals were shared among a number of players. Ella-Mae Miller, Brooke Ellis, Beth Everson and Connie Pengelly all found the back of the net, while several others came close. With Sarah Stacey not among the squad, the signs are that this United team has goals throughout the side and will punish poor defending when given the opportunities.

Bridgwater come into the game after securing a 1-0 home victory over Maidenhead on Sunday. The Somerset side, like United, have strengthened over the summer, bringing in a number of players who have experience of playing at a higher level, alongside younger players with plenty of potential.

The old saying goes that form goes out of the window in a cup tie, and United will be keen to hit the ground running in this competition, while also laying down a psychological marker against a team they will face later in the season in the league.

This is United’s only home game of the League Cup group phase, with the remaining two fixtures coming away against Plymouth Argyle and Plymouth Marjon.

Admission Prices for Tuesday’s game are as follows, with payment made via the turnstiles:

  • Adults £3
  • Concessions £1

Supporters are reminded that Plainmoor Passes are NOT valid for this League Cup fixture.

Any supporters unable to make the trip on Tuesday can once again listen to live and exclusive commentary via TUFC Radio, with coverage beginning from 7.30pm.
