From The Boardroom…

Co-chairmen give their views ahead of DAGGERS clash

We arrive at Plainmoor today buoyed by our first away win at Salisbury — a proper team display: controlled, committed, and ultimately more comfortable than the score suggested. The structure was right, the press brave, and composure in key moments showed this group’s character.

To the 845 who made that five‑plus hour round trip: thank you. Salisbury confirmed the figure, but we didn’t need a number to feel the noise. Your travelling support is extraordinary and it does not go unnoticed by Paul or the players. When you turn an away end into a corner of Plainmoor, it lifts the team in the tight moments.

This weekend brings a Plainmoor first — a weekend double header. Torquay United Women host Pucklechurch here tomorrow and any supporter attending today’s match can come back FREE OF CHARGE. Congratulations as well to the Women for reaching the first round proper of the Adobe FA Cup, with a plum home draw against our neighbours Exeter City on Sunday, 26 October. Let’s pack the place and make it a day to remember.

You’ll also notice a major upgrade today: our new big screen is live. Expect match information, features and community highlights on a platform that does the club justice. Our thanks to the Torquay United Supporters Trust (TUST) for financial support in making this happen — proof of what we achieve when club and supporters pull in the same direction.

Keeping the theme of improvements, new LED floodlights were installed this week. They’re more efficient, brighter and kinder on the environment — and, with a bit of luck, you may see them in action later in the game. As much as we love nostalgia, football by candlelight is best left to the historians — set‑piece routines are tricky enough without wax and wicks!

Off the field, we’re pleased to confirm that Tim Herbert becomes our General Manager following a re‑organisation and the departure of CEO Mark Thomas. We thank Mark for his efforts and wish him well. We have high confidence in Tim’s ability to get the most from our staff and to drive our ambitious plans forward. Significant groundwork has gone into the business side of Torquay United, and Tim is well placed to take the next steps with us.

This afternoon we welcome the players, management and supporters of Dagenham & Redbridge for a contest against a side many fancy for promotion. We’ll need you in full voice again. Fingers crossed we can maintain our perfect home record and build on a solid start to the season. Keep the energy high, keep the encouragement loud, and together let’s make Plainmoor a difficult place for anyone to visit.

Finally, thank you — once again — for your incredible support at home and away. It inspires the staff and the players every week. We don’t take it for granted. Enjoy the game, enjoy the new additions around the ground, and we’ll see you back here tomorrow to cheer on Torquay United Women.

Come on You Yellows!
