Much-anticipated addition to aid the Plainmoor pitch
This week saw a welcome arrival at TUFC, with the latest investment from Torquay United Supporters Trust purchasing two sets of grow lights, to help improve the quality of areas of the Plainmoor pitch.
Having been on groundsman Julian Gouldthorpe’s shopping wish-list for some time, the portable TLS grow lights will no doubt prove invaluable in the weeks and months ahead.
Following on from the recent instillation of additional handrails in Bristow’s Bench, TUST’s purchase of this vital piece of pitch equipment will directly benefit Torquay United’s cherished playing surface.
TUST Chairman Nick Brodrick explained more regarding the purchase.
“We were asked about a number of CapEx items that the Club was keen to have, and we agreed that we would pay for the new handrails in Bristow’s – which have now been erected – and the grow lights was another one on the list,” said Nick.
“We feel that as the major shareholder in the Byrn Consortium, that we need to support the Club in as many ways as we possibly can, and if we can do that by paying for various different bits of equipment the Club needs, then we are happy to help. These grow lights will be a great new accessory for the club to have.”
The Chair went on to highlight how every single TUST member plays an important part in ventures such as this one, with the Supporters Trust now having a key role at the Club.
“I know from the recent fans survey that quite a few fans are not sure what TUST does, or how we support the Club. The purchase of the handrails and the grow lights are just two examples of how we are helping the football club, as part of making it a fantastic place for supporters to come to.
“I can’t thank our 1,100 members enough. Their support since the club went into administration has seen our number swell, the Community Share Issue was fantastically supported, and all the TUFC supporters – TUST members or not – are great, and the Club is very fortunate to have so many of them following it home and away.
“We’re all hoping this season will be the season we all have something to celebrate come May.”
