Torquay United FC is delighted to announce the signing of former Yeovil Town captain Jake Wannell.
Centre-back Jake, 32, arrives at Plainmoor having made 40 appearances in the National League for The Glovers last season, and was part of the Town side that secured promotion from National League South as champions two years ago.
After beginning his career by graduating from Exeter City’s academy, Wannell gained his first taste of regular first-team football on loan in the Southern League with the likes of Dorchester, Chippenham and Poole, prior to taking in permanent spells with Weymouth, Salisbury and Taunton.
His spell with the Peacocks proved to be a huge success, as the imposing defender not only led the Peacocks to National League South promotion for the first time in their history, but also helped the side consolidate their position there, courtesy of earning 19 clean sheets during their sixth-tier debut campaign.
Having become the latest addition to Jimmy Ball’s playing roster for 2026/27, Jake’s leadership qualities, winning mentality, and vast experience are all sure to be huge assets for The Gulls next season.
