Highly-rated forward heads to Plainmoor

Torquay United is delighted to announce the signing of Jordan Young from Yeovil Town for an undisclosed fee.

25 year-old Jordan, who has agreed a permanent deal with The Gulls until May 2027, arrives with an enviable reputation, having begun his career in the EFL with Swindon Town, where he went on to make seven appearances and scoring one goal before departing to join Coventry City.

Moves to Gloucester City and Chippenham Town saw Young gain valuable experience of first-team action thereafter, and after becoming a regular goalscorer at Town, Yeovil moved to bring the former Scotland youth international to Huish Park in January 2023.

With The Glovers suffered relegation to National League South alongside The Gulls at the end of 2022/23, Jordan played a pivotal role in ensuring their time in the sixth tier was a brief but successful one, as his 16 goals in 47 outings not only secured the player a NLS championship medal, but also a place in the NLS ‘Team of the Season’.

Having figured prominently in Town’s opening fixtures of the 2024/25 campaign in the level above, Young will now be looking for history to repeat itself, as Paul Wotton’s side aim to launch a NLS promotion push of their own this season.

Torquay boss Wotton spoke of his pleasure in securing the services of his new No.8:

“Jordan is a player who excelled for Yeovil last season in the National League South, and he’s been very, very good this season for Yeovil in the National League.

“He’s a player who brings creativity, pace and quality to the squad.”

Welcome to Plainmoor, Jordan!
