United head to Buckinghamshire this weekend, as they take on Chesham United at The Meadow
With The Gulls’ goalless draw at home to Dagenham & Redbridge last weekend making it three successive clean sheets, the travelling Yellow Army will no doubt be looking for more of the same, whilst hoping the side regain their well-established scoring touch at the other end.
Who’s The Boss?

There are two main men in the Chesham dugout, with James Duncan and Michael Murray getting close to celebrating six years as a successful double-act in charge of The Generals.
Consecutive seasons of steady progress included a 5th-place finish in 2022–23, however their promotion play-off dreams were ultimately ended by Bracknell Town at the semi-final stage. Chesham were not to be denied for long though, as a memorable 2023/24 campaign saw them crowned Southern League Premier Division South champions, and with it, promotion to the National League South.
How Are They Doing?
3 wins, five draws, and three defeats signal a competitive – if unpredictable – start to 2025/26 for the Generals, who are further establishing themselves in English football’s sixth tier.
Last Saturday’s goalless draw at Maidstone was further evidence of their ability to mix it with the most-fancied sides in the division, and few would bet against them not emulating – or even bettering – last season’s highly respectable 13th place finish.
Player to Watch

The travelling Yellow Army won’t need much reminding of Nathan Minhas, with the striker being a constant threat against various Gulls sides during the past few seasons.
27 year-old Minhas honed his goalscoring prowess at Southern League Premier South Beaconsfield Town, where he bagged over 50 goals in two seasons for The Rams.
17 goals for Slough was proof of his ability to adapt to a higher level, and it was therefore with much delight that Chesham announced the signing of the former Billericay and Hampton & Richmond frontman last summer.
Played for Both

Former Gulls midfielder Roddy Collins may not have been at Palinmoor long, but he certainly has plenty of memorable memories of being a General, where the Irishman played a key role in their Southern League Premier South championship-winning success in 2023/24.
After beginning his career in Ireland with Monaghan United, moves to Athlone Town, Derry City, Drogheda and Waterford followed, before Roddy headed over the water for his first taste of English football with Hemel Hempstead Town.
Further stints at Hayes & Yeading and Kings Langley followed, but it was his all-action displays in the Chesham engine room that really captured the attentions of Gulls boss Paul Wotton, who swooped to make Collins one of his first signings, prior to him moving on to join AFC Totton last Autumn.
Previous Encounter

Chesham United 2 – 3 Torquay United | National League South| Monday 26th August 2024
United’s last visit to the Meadow saw them come back from behind twice to eventually seal a thrilling August Bank Holiday victory.
Two Joe Grant goals either side of Cody Cooke’s penalty leveller saw Chesham lead despite Jack Cawley’s sending off just before the interval. However, after Dan Hayfield restored parity for a second time, it was left to substitute Brad Ash to come off the bench and snatch a late, late winner.
