United take to the road once again on Tuesday to play Chippenham Town (28/01/25 | 7:45pm KO).

Who’s The Boss

Gary Horgan initially joined the Bluebirds as a player from rivals Hungerford Town in 2016, before making the step up into the coaching ranks the following year.

With previous incumbent Mike Cook departing Hardenhuish Park during the latter stages of 2021/22, it was Horgan that steadied the ship and lead the Club to the highest finish in their 149-year history. A 7th place finish sealed a place in the National League South play-offs. A penalty-shoot win over Dartford raised hopes of a rise to non-League’s top tier, before their participation in post-season action ended by way of a 1-0 defeat at Ebbsfleet in the semi finals.

Horgan led Chippenham to 12th position in the National League South last season as they finished with 62 points.

How Have They Been Doing?

Chippenham Town come into Tuesday night’s match on the back of an impressive 4-1 win away to Boreham Wood.

Tom Mehew opened the scoring before a brace from Luke Spokes. Caine Bradbury added gloss to the scoreline late on.

The Bluebirds started January in fine style with a 3-1 win over Weston-super-Mare. A draw and two defeats followed before a return to form against The Wood.

Player To Watch

Forward Will Dawes has proved a useful signing for The Bluebirds since joining from Yeovil at the beginning of this season.

Dawes was a part of The Glovers’ 2023/24 promotion-winning side after joining from Stratford Town.

He scored the goal that took Stratford Town into the first round of the FA Cup for the first time in the club’s history.

Played For Both

Forward Jordan Young caught the eye for The Bluebirds, firstly on loan, and then permanently in 2022. His form prompted a move to Yeovil Town before joining United this season.

Previous Encounter

Goals from Lirak Hasani and Ed Palmer gave United the perfect start in this season’s match between the two sides at Plainmoor back in early September.

Dan Hayfield then put United in firm control of the match in the 26th minute to earn United all three points in a 3-0 win.
