Our first away game of the season sees us taking on Farnborough at Cherrywood Road.

United started the season with three points in a 2-1 over Enfield at Plainmoor.

The Yellow Army take to the highways and byways once again in support of the Gulls. It’ll be the first chance to see United play competitively in our new away shirt that has been such a hit with the Yellow Army.

Paul Wotton On Away Trip

Paul Wotton highlighted some of the players that will be a danger during Saturday’s match in Thursday’s press call at Plainmoor. This can be watched in full HERE.

“We’re gearing up for what we know will be a tough game – very physical battle.

“In Ricky Holmes – even at his age – I think he’s one of the standout players in the League.

“They’re defensively strong. I like the boy [Oliver] Pendlebury in midfield. He’s a good player – good delivery. And [Mason] Bloomfield’s always a handful up front.

“We’re under no allusions how tough it is to go to Farnborough and get a result. They started with a win on Saturday against Chippenham and they finished last season very, very well – very strongly. They’ve got some excellent players.”

Wotton is eager to see how his team performs away from home in the National League South.

“It is our first away game. Playing away from home is vastly different to playing in front of four thousand at Plainmoor.”

Player To Watch

Spending his youth career with Marlow before joining Reading’s Academy, Pendlebury earned England youth call ups at U15s and U16s level, before making his senior debut for the Royals in the FA Cup third round in 2021.

A spell at Wycombe Wanderers followed before joining Farnborough in 2022. Spells at Aldershot and Ayr United followed before rejoining Farnborough in 2023.

Pendlebury has gained a reputation for scoring from outside of the box.

Previous Encounters

United and Boro played out a 0-0 draw at Cherrywood Road last season which was drastically different to the 3-0 win United enjoyed at Plainmoor. Aaron Jarvis hit a brace with Brad Ash also getting on the scoresheet.
