Pathway Progression

Four Young Gulls added to squad for Chesham win

Three valuable points towards Torquay United’s National League South promotion charge wasn’t the only reason for the Yellow Army to leave Plainmoor with a spring in their step on Saturday, with another cause for optimism resonating from the Torquay bench.

With United’s selection options severely limited due to suspension and injury, four members of the club’s youth team stepped up to bolster the matchday squad, as Aidan Edwards, Fin Herbert, Coby White and Jonah Shaw all took their places amongst The Gulls’ substitutes.

Edwards, who has already made four appearances this season, was joined by a trio of Young Gulls savouring the first-team environment for the first time, with all four players having recently spent time gaining valuable senior experience on loan at local sides Brixham AFC, Buckland Athletic, and Stoke Gabriel & Torbay Police.

The inclusion of the talented quartet against Chesham not only provides further evidence of the genuine player pathway that exists at TUFC, but also highlights the success of the club’s partnership with South Devon College and their unique Football Programme.

Well done, lads!
