Plainmoor Pitch Update

Precautionary inspection to take place at 9:00am on friday

Ahead of our scheduled home match against Dorking Wanderers this weekend (07/02/26 3pm KO), the Club has requested a local official conducts a precautionary inspection of the Plainmoor pitch on Friday morning at 9am.

Following heavy rain throughout the course of the week, an early inspection will provide both clubs with further clarity, ahead of Dorking leaving Surrey tomorrow morning.

Torquay’s Quinta Road Weather Station has confirmed that there has only been two dry days since January 16th, with 202.2mm of rain falling during this period – including 43.6mm in the past seven days.

This rainfall has put the already-saturated Plainmoor turf under extreme pressure to absorb this huge amount of water, and with a Met Office Yellow Rain Warning once again in place for tonight, the Club has explored every possible option available this week, including the use of highly-specialised equipment to support rain absorption over the past few days – our thanks go to Devon Garden Machinery for their incredible assistance.

In the face of this unprecedented and sustained rainfall, the Club would like to take this opportunity to express its gratitude to our ground staff, who continue to work tirelessly around the clock in a bid to get Saturday’s game on.

Further updates will follow on Friday morning.
