Maintenance work on the Plainmoor pitch was completed this week as preparations continued for the new season. The annual renovation programme started with sandbanding, a key process that helps improve drainage and creates a healthier, more durable playing surface capable of withstanding the demands of a long campaign.
Following the sandbanding, the existing surface was removed using a koro fraize mower before top dressing is applied across the pitch.
A new drainage pipe was installed in the area in front of the Family Stand. Then sand and stones were added to further improve drainage. Astro turf was laid in the area behind the goal line to provide an improved surface for players to warm-up.
The pitch then received a top dressing to aid growth before seeding completes the process.
