Matt Carson rose through the ranks at Glentoran before making the switch to Southampton, where his cultured displays at left-back helped The Saints clinch the 2020/21 Premier League South title in 2021.

After appearing for a young Southampton side in their Football League Trophy tie at Forest Green Rovers in August 2022, the young defender went on to sign his first professional contract in March 2023, in addition to receiving several call-ups to Southampton’s B team.

International recognition also came Matt’s way in the form of caps at U16, U18 and U19 level with Northern Ireland, before Matt gained his first taste of National League South football during a loan spell with Braintree in the 2023/24 season.
