REPORT: BUCKLAND 0 – 6 UNITED

Torquay United got their pre-season schedule off to a winning start on Saturday, as Jimmy Ball’s side ran out comfortable winners at the VX3 Stadium.

Isaac Westendorf – one of ten new signings – wasted little time in introducing himself, putting his side ahead in the fifth minute, after the bustling centre-forward beat the offside trap and side-footing the grounded goalkeeper before slotting the ball into the unguarded net.

A familar source made it 2-0 in the 21st minute, as Dylan Morgan scored in trademark style, cutting in from the left-hand side prior to firing a right-footer into the far top-corner.

Zak Baker’s low penalty save from Ryan Bush denied the hosts of a pathway back into proceedings, meaning that United boasted a two-goal advantage at the halfway point.

Eleven minutes after the restart, another debuting striker got on the scoresheet, as Callum Morton rifled the ball home from 20 yards to make it 3-0.

Youth team starlet Jonah Shaw was introduced shortly after, and made a name for himself in double-quick time, notching close-range efforts in the 66th and 73rd minute as The Gulls began to run riot.

The final flourish came with twelve minutes remaining, as Sonny Blu Lo-Everton picked up on a pass inside the box and curled home the ball from twelve yards and round things up at 6-0.

Onto Cullompton.
