Frampton Rangers 0
United 2
(Kaptein 39′, Everson 60′)
United’s women secured their fifth-successive victory on Sunday, as a goal in each half secured three valuable points ahead of the festive break.
Tee Kaptein’s first-half strike put United ahead at the halfway stage, and that lead was doubled by Beth Everson on the hour mark to seal a comfortable win on the road.
Having faced the same opponents in their last outing two weeks ago at Coach Road, boss Ryan Perks made one change to the side that secured that 5-0 triumph, with Lily Hilton recalled at the expense of Isabel Hillier-Nickels, who dropped down to the substitutes bench. Also named amongst the replacements was Ella Pawley, following the midfielder’s recent arrival from Marine Academy.
There was little sign of a repeat of Torquay’s convincing victory a fortnight ago in a competitive first 45 minutes, and although the hosts didn’t really threaten Ellie Mitchell’s goal, Perks’ side were also kept at arm’s length by a well-drilled Frampton defence.
Everson came close to opening the scoring after making the most of a moment’s indecision in the home backline on eleven minutes, only to see her low driven bundled behind.
It wasn’t until six minutes before the break that the deadlock was finally broken.
Lucy Palmer’s corner proved to be the key that unlocked Rangers, with her delivery sent perfectly in the direction of Kaptein, who powered home a header to give The Gulls an interval advantage.
The second half began well, and saw Torquay enjoy a sustained period of possession, with only the final ball preventing them from putting the result behind Frampton.
Perks’ side remained patient though, and the crucial second goal eventually came on 60 minutes.
A fine passing move saw United carve open their opponents, with Everson showing her composure by calmly slotting home a right-foot finish to make it 2-0.
Having battled so long to stifle United, that goal seemed to knock the stuffing out of Rangers, and although Ellie Mitchell did have to produce one smart save to prevent the arrears being reduced, it was largely one-way traffic for the remainder of proceedings.
With three points safely wrapped up as an early Christmas present for the Yellow Army, United can look back on a job well done in the first instalment of 2025/26, with their record of five wins and one draw leaving them well-placed for a sustained promotion push when the action resumes at AEK Boco on January 4th.
