United 2
(Morgan 8′, Lo-Everton 69′)
Horsham 0
United were victorious on non-league day 2026, as a goal in each half saw The Gulls emerge as convincing winners at Plainmoor.
Dylan Morgan gave United the perfect start with an early strike, before victory was confirmed in the second period courtesy of Sonny Blu Lo-Everton’s free-kick.
Manager Jimmy Ball opted to make one change to the side that contested the thrilling 2-2 draw with Dorking on Tuesday, with back-from-suspension captain Matt Worthington taking the place of Matt Jay. New loan signing from Reading, Reece Evans, took his place amongst the substitutes.
After going close on a couple of occasions, The Gulls took the lead with eight minutes on the clock.

A lovely one-two on the edge of the area allowed Morgan to find space inside the box, before the Torquay winger confidently applied a cool finishing touch by slipping a low shot past Hornets ‘keeper Lewis Carey and inside the far post.
Horsham responded to falling behind by enjoying a decent spell of possession thereafter, before Ball’s men regained a measure of control over proceedings.
Deon Moore thought he’d bundled home his first goal for the club just past the half-hour mark before being denied by an Assistant’s offside flag, before Jordan Dyer forced a good save from Carey shortly after.
It remained 1-0 at the break though.

Once the action got back underway, it was all about the men in yellow.
United had to remain patient, as a number of near-misses and committed defending kept the scoreline unaltered.
Things became more comfortable on 69 minutes.
A free-kick wide on the right was fired goalwards by Lo-Everton, and with Jordan Dyer and a despairing Horsham defender both in stretching for the ball, who got the final touch was initially unclear, but the two-goal advantage was there for all to see.

Far from sitting on that extended lead, Ball’s side continued to go in search of a third, and although it never came, the final whistle confirmed a convincing win for The Gulls.
Onto Weston on Good Friday.
