REPORT | United Women 3 – 2 Pucklechurch Sports

United Triumph in a five goal thriller.

Torquay United’s women were victorious in their South West Regional Football League fixture against Pucklechurch Sports.

With 318 fans in attendance, the Yellow Army were treated to a game full of energy, attacking flair, and late drama.

United began the match confidently, dominating early possession, although they were unable to convert their control into a breakthrough on the scoreboard.

Emily Elliott tested the Pucklechurch goalkeeper with a long-range effort, but it was comfortably dealt with in an otherwise uneventful first half.

Manager Ryan Perks likely delivered a motivating team talk at the break, with a positive second-half response needed to lift the Yellow Army.

United emerged from the break with renewed confidence and an increased tempo. The breakthrough came when Roxy Thomas found space down the left flank and delivered a cross-come-shot that looped over the goalkeeper and into the back of the net.

United maintained their strong start to the second half as Emily Elliott doubled the advantage in the 55th minute with a composed and clinical finish. However, just minutes later, Pucklechurch halved the deficit with a swift and incisive counter-attack.

As the clock wound down, captain Lucy Palmer was played through on goal and calmly slotted her effort beneath the goalkeeper to restore United’s two-goal cushion.

In the dying seconds, Pucklechurch netted a late consolation goal, bringing an end to an entertaining second half.
