Weymouth 2
(Goodship 50′, 81′)
United 2
(Jenkins Davies 45+3′, Cooke 58′)
United were forced to settle for a point on Boxing Day, as Weymouth came from behind to force a draw.
Will Jenkins Davies’ goal just before the break saw United ahead, however a brace from Brandon Goodship either side of Cody Cooke’s second for United left it all-square in Dorset.
Following United’s 1-0 home win over Hemel Hempstead last time out, boss Paul Wotton opted to make two changes to his starting eleven, with Matt Carson and Jordan Thomas replacing Jay Foulston and Finn Tonks.
The first half was a certainly competitive, however there wasn’t too much to report in the way of clear-cut openings, with the hosts giving as good as they got during the majority of the first 45 minutes.
Wotton’s side looked the more composed on the ball, and just when it looked like the sides would be heading into the dressing rooms on level terms, they struck decisively.
Oscar Threlkeld was the architect, with his deep left-footed curling ball taking out the Weymouth backline, whilst allowing the intelligent Jenkins Davies to dart in and give his side an interval advantage.
Having worked so hard to get in front, it was therefore disappointing when The Gulls were pegged back just five minutes after the change of ends.
Having worked himself into a one-v-one against James Hamon, Goodship’s strike caught the United ‘keeper out, and found its way into the net to make it 1-1.
Eight minutes later though, Wotton’s men were back in front.
Having won a free-kick on the right of the penalty area, Cooke met Jordan Young’s delivery perfectly to head United 2-1 ahead from six yards out.
Chances then cam and went at both ends, before a sting in the tail gave the Terras a share of the spoils.
With nine minutes left, a switch of play from right to left Goodship unmarked, and he duly curled home to make it all-square.
Onto Truro.
