Young defender makes the switch to plainmoor
Torquay United is delighted to announce the latest addition to their women’s squad for 2025/26, with attacking left-back Roxy Thomas becoming manager Ryan Perks’ newest recruit.
Having progressed through the ranks at Plymouth Argyle, Roxy received international recognition after being selected for the England Schools squad.
Recognised for her excellent passing range and the ability to contribute effectively in both defensive and attacking phases of play, Thomas made 25 appearances for The Pilgrims in the third tier in 2024/25, having made her debut at the age of 16.
The capture of Thomas is real boost for United’s prospects next term, with Perks eventually securing the future of the highly-rated defender, amid plenty of interest from other clubs.

Having decided that her future lay at Plainmoor, the player expressed her delight at making the move across Devon to the English Riviera.
“The club has big ambitions this season and for the future,” said Roxy.
“I’m looking forward to be part of the team, and continuing in my own development under Ryan.”
With the two linking up once again, Torquay boss Perks is equally enthusiastic about Roxy continuing her football journey in Torbay next term.
“Roxy is a top talent and one of the best young players in the South West,” began Ryan.
“To bring a player of her ability to Torquay is a huge step forward for the club. She has a wand of a left foot and I’m looking forward to working with her again in the coming season.”
Welcome to Plainmoor, Roxy!
