THE RACE FOR PROMOTION | THIS WEEKEND IN THE NATIONAL LEAGUE SOUTH

The majority of contenders in the National League South promotion race head into this weekend with three games still to play, and all outcomes are still possible.

United, just like last season’s incredible conclusion, are bang in the mix ahead of our weekend trip to mid-table Slough Town.

After a run of three victories, and that pulsating home draw with Dorking Wanderers, the Gulls sit third in the table, four points behind Worthing and the aforementioned Dorking. Worthing have a vastly superior goal difference, which effectively equates to an additional point.

Ebbsfleet are level on points with United but have a slightly weaker goal difference, while Hornchurch are only a point further back, although they benefit from a game in hand and three of their final four outings on home turf.

Maidenhead sit in sixth, a point behind Hornchurch and ahead of Hemel Hempstead on goal difference, with Hemel visiting Plainmoor on our final home game of the regular season – Buy your Hemel tickets here.

From first to seventh, there are just six points separating the teams in contention, and those peering from below the play-off ledge still have a great chance of gatecrashing the end-of-season party.

Chesham have won four on the trot to sit on 71 points, one behind Hemel, while Maidstone (70), Weston-super-Mare (70) and Chelmsford (68) are all still involved. Weston and Chelmsford also have an extra game in hand.

There are so many possible permutations and some belters in store this weekend, including Chelmsford v Maidenhead and Hornchurch v Ebbsfleet.

For Jimmy Ball’s Torquay United, the only focus is three points at Slough, continue the positive momentum and see where we end up at 2.30pm on Saturday, April 25!

At the bottom, relegation has been confirmed for Eastbourne Borough and Enfield Town, while Bath City will be relegated if they lose at home to Chesham. Chippenham Town still have a chance of escaping but they are six points behind Farnborough in the final survival slot, so the trip to Hampton & Richmond Borough tomorrow is virtually must-win.
