There’s four ways to help former Gull Jakub Sokolik’s fundraising efforts, with two amazing prizes on offer!
Everyone at Torquay United were saddened to hear of the plight of former player Jakub Sokolik, when it was announced that his son had been diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.
It was comforting, however, that not for the first time the Footballing Family sprung into action to support former the ex-Liverpool, Southend, Yeovil and Plymouth defender and his family, with donations raised going towards treatment to assist Sokolik junior over the past 18 months.
With his next round of treatment set to cost between £4,000-£6,000, Torquay United is now launching its own fundraising plan to help aid this very brave 3 year-old in his latest battle.
There are four ways that United supporters can donate towards this worthy cause, with two very special prizes up for grabs!
Option One – Raffle To Win A Round Of Golf With Paul Wotton
Fancy yourself as a bit of a golfer? Well, here’s a chance you can’t pass up – a chance to win a round of golf at Torquay Golf Club with the man himself, United manager Paul Wotton.
Former Plymouth, Southampton and Yeovil star Wotton has become a hugely popular figure with the Yellow Army since his arrival in the summer, and with Paul lending his support to help his former Argyle colleague, you could now have the chance to take on the Gulls boss at Torquay Golf Club’s wonderfully picturesque course.
To stand a chance of winning this amazing prize, simply purchase a raffle ticket via our Club Shop or Main Reception – Tickets are priced at just £2, and will be available until just after full-time at our home match against St Albans on Saturday 21st September.
Option Two – Auction To Win A Pair Of Eunan O’Kane’s Match-Worn & Signed Boots
Thanks to the kind donation from United supporter Jez Gill, we’ll be giving the Yellow Army the chance to bid on a pair of signed boots worn by former Gulls favourite Eunan O’Kane.
Having made over 100 appearances for Torquay between 2010-2012, and with his 12 goals including a memorable brace in a famous 3-1 Devon Derby win over Plymouth Argyle at Plainmoor, Eunan’s performances in a yellow shirt won him many admirers, before the talented midfielder moved on to represent Bournemouth, Leeds & Luton, as well as winning seven full international caps with Republic of Ireland.

Option Three – Bucket Collection v St Albans
With our next home match coming against St Albans on Saturday week, there will be a bucket collection taking place before the match, at half-time, and directly after the game, in order to boost Jakub’s fundraising efforts.
Buckets will be located all around the stadium at Plainmoor on Saturday 21st September, with every donation hugely appreciated.
