Gulls travel to Bishops for a Somerset showdown

Torquay United Women will be treading carefully around the proverbial banana skin when they travel to lowly Bishops Lydeard on Sunday.

The Bishops have struggled badly over the first half of the league season and currently sit bottom of the division, still waiting to put a point on the board.

United, in stark contrast, are flying.

Beth Everson banged in a hat-trick in last weekend’s 5-0 defeat of Frampton Rangers, Tea Kaptein and Mollie Taylor were also on target, and that success came hot on the heels of a 4-1 win at Poole Town.

Cup exploits mean the Gulls are playing catch-up on most of the league in terms of fixtures to play, the Bishops away will be just their sixth league outing. Leaders AEK Boco have played nine and Pucklechurch, in third, are on 11 games played.

As it stands, United and Forest Green Rovers have virtually identical records, both having won four and drawn one from their five games. FGR have a one-goal advantage in the goal difference column.

In a league with just one side promoted, every point and every goal is crucial.

Sunday’s game will kick-off at 2pm at Darby Way, Bishops Lydeard, Taunton, TA4 3BD.
