Torquay United’s table-topping women have announced a key appointment in their quest for promotion, following the arrival of Goalkeeper Coach George Hamill.
Having started his goalkeeper coaching journey in Scotland with the SFA at Airdrie, George spent the next decade coaching the club’s academy prospects, in addition to their first team keepers for an interim spell.
After relocating to Somerset, Hamill resumed coaching duties at Ilminster Town, whilst gaining his UEFA B Outfield and Youth Award with The FA in 2018.
The opportunity to coach then-Tier 4 outfit Buckland Athletic WFC proved too much to turn down, and after spending several successful seasons at Athletic, George moved onto fellow FAWNL side Exeter City, where he helped The Grecians to secure promotion to the 3rd tier.
Completing his UEFA B Goalkeeper Diploma with the Football Association Wales in 2022, Hamill’s 20-year coaching career now sees him make the short switch across Devon to Plainmoor, with United manager Ryan Perks delighted to add his experience to his coaching team.
“We are delighted to welcome George to Torquay United,” said Perks.
“His knowledge and experience will be a valuable addition to our coaching team, and we look forward to the positive impact he will have on the development of our goalkeepers, as well as supporting the continued growth of our existing staff.”
