Knott Signs For United Women

Plymouth midfielder heads to Plainmoor

Torquay United is delighted to announce their first signing of the summer, as midfielder Georgie Knott makes the switch from Devon neighbours Plymouth Argyle.

Knott, who has the experience of nearly 50 appearances in the third tier of women’s football under her belt, is looking forward to working with United manager Ryan Perks, who also made the short journey from Plymouth to Torbay earlier this summer.

“Previously I was at Plymouth Argyle, so I had connections with Ryan and he’s played a big part in my footballing career,” said Georgie.

“He’s been coaching me since the Under-14s, and all the way through the pathway into the women’s team.”

Following on from the national side securing their second successive European Championship title this summer, Knott is now hoping that that success can be emulated at Plainmoor.

“The success of the Lionesses in the summer was really inspiring, and it’s given us a lot to look up to. I know a quite a few of the girls through other teams, and the nice things that I’ve been told about the club played a big part in me coming to Torquay United.

“Looking at pre-season so far, I feel that I’ve really settled in and I’m enjoying it. I can’t wait for the season to get underway.

“I’ll be looking to score a few more goals this season, and hopefully we’ll get there”
