Leading scorer on the importance of the supporters during the 2024/25 run-in

After grabbing the all-important winner in last Saturday’s home clash with his former club Bath City, Cody Cooke is in no doubt of the importance The Gulls’ fans can play during the final weeks of the season.

“Last Saturday, for last ten minutes, it felt like we needed that crowd to get on top and help you.

“It’s one where you need that support, you need that help to get you through, and if it’s that five yards extra run, or that little bit of extra jump, or whatever it might be, you’ve got those fans around you, and that can go such a long way.”

There’s not much that the 32 year-old hasn’t seen during a career that’s taken in over 450 senior games for the likes of Truro, Weymouth and Bath in the south west of England, as well as St Mirren in the Scottish top-flight, and having experienced plenty of highs and lows along the way, Cooke is convinced that harnessing that energy from the terraces can help give his side the edge during 2024/25’s final weeks.

“We’ve all felt the lows, like the Boreham Wood game a few weeks ago, and we’ve felt the crowd on the other end of the spectrum.

“You’ve got to use that energy, because that can be the difference between winning and losing a game, it can be as small as that.

“We need that continued support.”
