Youth Round-Up

Busy weekend for our Young Gulls

Paul Wotton’s senior side may have not been in action last weekend, but United’s stars of the future were busy producing a number of impressive performances across the various age groups.

Under 9s

Our U9 Blues faced a tough test against Saints South West. It was a battle from the off with plenty of skill and determination on show. The Blues showed off their ability and were unlucky with some chances hitting the woodwork and some great saves. There was an exciting finale, with the side scoring two late goals.

Meanwhile, U9 Yellows were also up against a strong Saints side.

The boys had to dig deep at times with some last ditch tackles, but they managed to nullify the threat from Saints, and managed to score a couple of excellent goals!

The Man of the match was named as Arlo Hawken, who impressed with is non stop running, energy & tackles, although there was also a special mention for Jack Morgan for his solid performance.

Under 10s

The U10s went goal crazy with some very well crafted goals, including a couple of very good individual efforts.

Braces from Rio and Harry H set the young Gulls on their way, with Jude, Cole and an own goal also getting on the scoresheet.

Under 11s

Like our youngest age groups, our U11s were also up against Saints SW. The boys put in a fantastic performance in a very competitive game.

Oli scored a terrific goal, with the side digging in deep and showing some excellent play in the centre of the park.

Under 12s

A closely-fought encounter against Chivenor saw both sides trade goals, although United will feel that they were the better side on the day.

Under 13s

Meanwhile, our U13s secured a superb 4-1 win against mid-Somerset

Although the side struggled to get any fluidity into their play, the team kept going, with their desire seeing the side win the game with two late goals.

Freddy Bonner, Jackson Wooldridge, Teddy Shobbrook and an Own Goal were all on the scoresheet, whilst Toby Young was named Man of the Match following a great game on the right wing.

Under 14s

The Under-14s had certainly had their shooting boots on, as they secured an amazing 14-1 win over North Somerset.

The boys were fantastic from start to finish and never really let their foot off the gas.

Gio Vaiaa bagged five goals, with Xavi Merrison notching four, whilst Max Hooton, Jasper Brandon, Elijah Sims and Lennie Weeks also getting in on the act.

Under 15s

A tight encounter for our U15s saw Torquay’s Oakley score the only goal of the game to clinch a hard-earned win.

United were in charge for most of the match, and managed the game well from start to finish.

With some key players unavailable, the squad’s strength was on show to secure a good result for the lads.

Well done, all!
