All the Latest from Our Young Gulls
Once again, there has been plenty going on in our youth department recently, and here we take a look at how the next generation of United stars have been getting on.
Under 8s
There was a fantastic display from our youngest age group, who started their competitive phase by going goal-crazy against Saints South West.
Clearly the lads got up on the right side of bed, as it certainly showed in their performance!
Goalscoring honours went to Hansford, Sims, Mountjoy, Nurse and Fosbrooke.
Under 9s
Our U9 Blues enjoyed a memorable trip to Swansea City, and played two 40-minute games back-to-back!
Despite having only one substitute, no-one could fault the lads’ efforts, as they played some fantastic football and surprised their opponents by taking a two-goal lead early on. Although Swansea hit back, our Blues were superb throughout!
The second match saw the hosts on top from the start, and although the Young Gulls battled back, tiredness began to creep in towards the end of the game.
Meanwhile, our Yellows played out a competitive encounter with Exeter RTC.
Despite a battling performance, the boys couldn’t quite take their chances to get the result their build-up play deserved, but the team spirit shown by the Yellows earned plenty of respect on the day!

Under 12s
The U12s also showed fine commitment and spirit, as they were forced to play their match with the bare minimum of nine players.
Those nine put on a good performance with lots of positives to be gained, and some good spells of play throughout the match.
Under 13s
A highly competitive local derby saw United come out on top against Yeovil, as the U13s continued their amazing form this season, having won 13 and drawn 1 over their 14 games so far.
An excellent attacking display eventually saw Jackson Wooldridge’s goal prove decisive. Jake Jolly took the man of the Match honours to help set up an exciting end to the campaign at the top of the table.
Under 15s
An action-packed match with Chivenor saw United denied victory late on.
A superb showing saw the Young Gulls race two goals clear, however, just when it looked like the lads had secured a gutsy victory, a tough penalty decision went Chivenor’s way, leaving Torquay to see out the game with just ten men.
Well played, all!
