Slough 2

(Goodard 63′, Bayliss 90+6′)

United 2

(Young 12′, Moxey 89′)

There was late drama in Berkshire, as two late goals saw the points shared at Slough.

Jordan Young continued his excellent recent run by putting his side ahead before the break, however Johnny Goddard’s second-half leveller made it all-square going into the latter stages. When Dean Moxey struck in the final minute of normal time, it looked as though United had secured another late victory, until a Dan Bayliss goal six minutes into time added on made it 2-2.

Gulls boss Wotton opted to make one change from the 1-1 draw at St Albans three days ago, with Omar Mussa replacing Will Jenkins Davies.

It didn’t take Torquay long to go ahead.

12 minutes in, Oscar Threlkeld played a delightful ball into the path of Young, with United’s No.8 finishing in style to put his side 1-0 up.

For a period thereafter, Wotton’s side threatened to blow their opponents away, however, as the interval approached the home side began to impose themselves a little more.

Following the restart, it was initially more of the same, and just past the hour mark Slough restored parity as Goddard nipped in to level things up.

Just when it looked like that would be that in terms of goals, substitute Moxey got onto the end of fellow replacement Ed Palmer’s flick-on to lash the ball home in the 89th minute, as United looked to have booked a late winner.

Sadly, it was not to be, as in the final of time added on, Dan Bayliss headed home to equalise at the death.

Next up, a return to Plainmoor, as The Gulls look to defend their unbeaten home record against Hampton & Richmond on Saturday.
