Torquay United is proud to stand alongside all 72 National League clubs in unanimously supporting the 3UP campaign, launched today by the National League
The campaign calls on the EFL to introduce a third promotion place from the National League into League Two, bringing it in line with the structure between League Two and League One. Currently, only two teams earn promotion, creating a bottleneck that unfairly limits ambitious clubs and disrupts the natural flow of the football pyramid.
Co-Chairman Mark Bowes-Cavanagh, commented: “This proposed change is long overdue. The National League is full of strong, competitive clubs that deserve a fair chance to progress. Increasing promotion places from the National League to League 2 to three would create greater opportunity, reward success, and strengthen the entire football pyramid. This is good for football and good for fans.”
The National League is urging the EFL to vote in favour of the proposal, which would provide a more balanced and meritocratic system.
Torquay United fully supports the 3UP campaign and encourages fans to get behind it. More details on how supporters can lend their voices will be shared soon.
