Co-Chairmen SHARE THEIR PROGRAMME NOTES AHEAD OF TONIGHT’S clash WITH WORTHING

Good evening and a very warm welcome back to Plainmoor for tonight’s game against Worthing. A special welcome to our visitors – their directors, staff, players and travelling supporters – and of course to you, the Yellow Army. Your backing on Saturday was outstanding, and we’re delighted to see so many of you back under the lights this evening.

We can’t start anywhere other than Saturday’s 7–0 victory over Eastbourne. After the events off the pitch and an incredibly challenging week for the whole club, the resilience and character shown by the lads was something everyone connected with Torquay United could be proud of. It’s fair to say they played with a bit of defiance and a little anger – and they channelled it in exactly the right way. The performance, the work-rate and the togetherness right across the pitch made it the perfect antidote to the days leading up to the game.

Paul is a big believer in trusting the process and trusting the quality within this group. Throughout the recent run, the staff and players have felt that if they kept doing the right things, stuck to the plan and maintained their standards, a convincing result would come. On Saturday, we saw that belief rewarded in emphatic style. The team felt it was only a matter of time before they won by a scoreline like that – and what a time to do it, in front of our own supporters when the club needed a lift.

Tonight brings a very different, but equally important, challenge. Worthing arrive as the in-form team in our division, having won nine games on the bounce. That kind of run doesn’t happen by accident, and it tells you the quality and confidence they will bring with them. All of that sets this up beautifully as a real “six pointer” at the top end of the table and a proper test of where we are as a group.

From our point of view, the message is clear: Saturday has to be a platform, not a one-off. The intensity, togetherness and ruthlessness we showed against Eastbourne hopefully becomes our benchmark. If we can marry that attitude with your backing from the stands, we give ourselves every chance of building real momentum as we move deeper into the season.

Thank you, as always, for your fantastic support. Enjoy the game, get right behind Paul and the lads, and let’s bring the noise.

Come on you Yellows !
