Gulls Duo Head To Weymouth

Carson and Wonnacott join Terras on loan

Weymouth’s battle to beat the Southern League drop has been boosted after Matt Wonnacott and Matt Carson joined the Dorset side on loan, with Wonnacott heading to Dorset on an initial 28-day deal, whilst Carson will remain in a Terra until the end of the current campaign.

After making his name in the youth ranks at Plainmoor prior to joining Wigan Athletic, goalkeeper Wonnacott returned to United in the summer of 2024, and although his pathway to the first-team has been blocked by the form of ever-present custodian James Hamon, Matt has already gained valuable senior experience this season, thanks to a two-month assignment at Tiverton Town.

Meanwhile, Northern Ireland U21 left-back Carson – who has clocked up 42 appearances & scored 4 goals for The Gulls – will be making a welcome return to the Bob Lucas Stadium, having begun 2025/26 with the Terras, prior to another loan at fellow Southern League Premier side, Taunton Town.

Best of luck, lads!
