Gulls bolster defence ahead of Chelmsford clash
Torquay United have strengthened their defensive options with the loan signing of Sutton United centre-back Will Tizzard.
Tizzard, 23, arrives at Plainmoor on an initial 28-day loan, having made 19 appearances in the division above already this term.
After beginning his career by rising through the youth ranks at Southampton, a season-long loan spell with Chippenham Town in 2022/23 was followed up by two years north of the border, where Will was a regular member of the Queen’s Park backline in the Scottish Championship, prior to joining Sutton last summer.
Gulls boss Paul Wotton spoke of his delight at the latest addition to his squad, ahead of a busy month for his side.
“Will is a player I’ve known about since I was at Southampton, and now he’s become available,” said Wotton.
“He’s a ball-playing, physical centre-back, and I’m looking forward to working with him and being successful.”
TUFC would like to thank Torquay United Supporters Trust, who have again agreed to fund part of the fee for the Club’s latest loan deal.
In other loan news, Plymouth Argyle striker Joe Hatch and Exeter City defender Ed James have both returned to their respective clubs, with both players having been hit with injuries during their temporary stints at Plainmoor. Everyone at TUFC would like to thank both players for their efforts during their time with the club.
