Bishops Lydeard 0 – 8 United Women

Torquay United Women strengthened their title prospects on Sunday, with a convincing win at Bishops Lydeard.

After taking a little while to get going, Jess Geach’s opener from a corner midway through the first half gave Ryan Perks’ side something to show for their superiority, before two more goals juts before the break from strike duo Beth Everson and Connie Pengelly put any thoughts of a shock result to bed by half-time.

Things got even more comfortable for Torquay after the restart, with Tee Kaptein and Pengelly’s second seeing The Gulls race further clear, before a superb third for Pengelly made it back-to-back hat-tricks for the in-form centre-forward just short of the hour mark.

Late goals for Ella Pawley and Evelyn Bray – added further gloss.

The punishment for the beleaguered hosts ended there, however, the two sides will do it all again next weekend, as United host Lydeard in the return fixture.
