Way Joins Coaching Staff

Ahead of his home match in charge, new Gulls boss Jimmy Ball has strengthened his backroom team by adding Darren Way to his first-team coaching staff.

Way arrives at Plainmoor after departing United’s National League South rivals Bath City, and will assist Ball until the end of the 2025/26 campaign.

The majority of Way’s playing career was spent at Yeovil Town, with Darren making over 250 first-team appearances for The Glovers during three separate spells that saw the Somerset-based side rise from non-League football to the EFL, in addition to a stint with Swansea City.

After injury curtailed his playing career, Way moved into coaching at Huish Park, before becoming Town’s manager in December 2015. He would remain in charge there for four years, before moving on to Plymouth Argyle as Under-18s manager.

A much-respected coach with a strong track record in promoting young talent, Darren also served as Lee Johnson’s Assistant Manager at Fleetwood Town, prior to taking up his most recent position at manager of Bath in December 2024.
