Having routed title rivals Forest Green Rovers in their own back yard last Sunday, United’s league-leading women will tackle a rare midweek test on Thursday evening, as they head to Cornwall to take on Saltash (16/04/26 7.45pm KO).
United’s superb season continues to go from strength to strength, with the 4-1 success in Gloucester coming courtesy of strikes from Connie Pengelly (2), Beth Everson and Tee Kaptein.
Another highlight of their so far unbeaten league campaign was the 10-1 mauling over tomorrow’s hosts back in January, and the Cornish side seems to have struggled to get that emphatic defeat out of their system, with three reverses in the last four leaving them just three points above Frampton in the final relegation place.
Victory for Ryan Perks’ side tomorrow would not only see them extend their lead at the top of the table to 8 points from 2nd-placed Sherborne, but it would also see them go 14 points clear of Forest Green in 3rd. Although Rovers would still have three games in hand to burrow into that lead, such a large deficit at this late stage of the season would be technically and mentally hard to break down.
Any members of the Yellow Army planning on make the trip over the Tamar Bridge to cheer on the girls will be made to feel most welcome at the Kimberley Stadium, however those unable to make the trip can instead listen to full live commentary via TUFC Radio from 7.30pm HERE
