Supporters Unite At Plainmoor For Play-Off Final Watch Party

Despite the heartbreak of Saturday’s Play-Off Final result, Torquay United’s Plainmoor Watch Party proved to be a hugely successful event, bringing the Yellow Army together for a memorable day at the Club’s home.

An official attendance of 2,548 supporters watched the final at Plainmoor, with fans of all ages enjoying live music, games, the Kids’ Fan Zone and a popular food village on the pitch. It was particularly wonderful to see so many families and young supporters sharing the day together in yellow and blue.

With a further 900 Torquay United supporters making the journey to Hornchurch, the day once again underlined the extraordinary backing this football club continues to receive.

Saturday marked the first time Plainmoor has staged an event of this kind, with big screens on the pitch and supporters watching together inside the stadium. Following the success of the day, the Club will now review whether similar events could be staged in the future — including the possibility of England World Cup Watch Parties at Plainmoor.

Co-Chairman Michael Westcott said: “Obviously, we were all devastated by the result, but we were also incredibly proud of the way the Yellow Army came together at Plainmoor.

“To have 2,548 supporters inside the stadium, plus 900 more at Hornchurch, was a powerful reminder of what this Club means to people.

“We were delighted the event ran so smoothly, and we want to single out the Plainmoor staff, who worked incredibly hard to stage an event the Club can feel proud of.”

Torquay United would like to thank every supporter who attended Plainmoor or travelled to Hornchurch.
