REPORT: CULLOMPTON 1 – 5 UNITED

Torquay United’s pre-season preparations continued at Speeds Meadow on Tuesday evening, as they produced a five-goal show against Cullompton Rangers.

Cullompton’s stubborn resistance lasted until the 36th minute, as Isaac Westendorf finished off Sonny Blu Lo-Everton’s drilled ball across the six yard box to prod the ball home from close-range.

Westendorf doubled his tally in the first-half injury time, this time firing home from a narrow angle from inside the box.

The second half saw a raft of changes, with the arrival of Deon Moore of particular interest to the Yellow Army, and it didn’t take too long before Moore regained his scoring touch following the summer break.

Callum Morton’s drive and penetrative ball towards the back post left Moore with the simplest of tasks, and he duly delivered by sliding home United’s third in the 57th minute.

After Rangers responded with a goal back in the 65th minute following a misplaced clearance, Moore re-established the three-goal margin in the 74th minute.

This time it was Torquay’s Trialist that provided the ammunition, with his right-wing cross buried by the head of the towering centre-forward.

Four became five in the 78th minute when Morton slammed the ball home from the edge of the box, and that was enough to wrap up another big win for Jimmy Ball’s side.

Next up, a return to Torbay to take on Brixham at Wall Park on Saturday.
