Torquay United’s youth team are back in FA Youth Cup action on Monday night (12/10/26 | 7:45pm KO) as they travel to Mangotsfield United’s Cossham Street for the Third Qualifying Round.
United began their cup campaign in style with a 4-2 victory over Weston-super-Mare U18s at Plainmoor, with Jonah Shaw and Harry Truscott both netting twice on the night.
Craig Hutcheson’s side then travelled to Mill Road, where they produced a professional performance to defeat Barnstaple 2-0. George Powell opened the scoring, latching onto a pass inside the area before slotting past the goalkeeper from 12 yards. He then doubled United’s lead from the penalty spot in the 61st minute to seal the victory.
Monday’s opponents secured a 5-2 home victory over local rivals Yate Town U18s before facing a tense Second Qualifying Round tie against Aldershot. After a goalless draw, Mangotsfield prevailed in an epic 12-11 penalty shootout, with 26 spot-kicks taken, to set up a meeting with the Young Gulls in South Gloucestershire.
