Club Reacts To Fan’s Banning Order

Torquay United is proud to be blessed with some of the most devoted and passionate supporters in the country, however, it was disappointing to learn that the actions of one of the club’s supporters resulted in them receiving a Football Banning Order earlier this week.

The ban was issued following an incident which took place at our home game against Weston-super-Mare in April this year, when an object was thrown by the supporter onto the pitch.

Having pleaded guilty to the offence, the individual received a three-year football banning order, preventing them from attending any regulated fixture in England, including those involving both Torquay United and the England national team.

In addition to the ban, the supporter received a fine, victim surcharge, and costs totalling £141.

Torquay United FC would like to reiterate that whilst it acknowledges that the vast majority of our fanbase behave in an exemplary manner, our club will not tolerate any individuals or groups that act engage in any form of anti-social or criminal behaviour.

We will therefore continue to work with Devon & Cornwall Police in order to ensure that our reputation as a friendly and family-orientated Football Club is upheld, and is not tarnished by the minority of those who threaten that status.
